Abbey
Vale
Internationally renowned for its wine
production, the south-west of Western
Australia has given wine-lovers around the
world continuous pleasure since coming of
age in the eighties. AbbeyVale is a
boutique vinery representative of the
richness of the Margaret River region.
Established in 1986, AbbeyVale proudly
introduces the next generation of wines to
the tables of those who know a good
drop.
Alkoomi
Alkoomi is renowned as a consistent
producer of elegant, flavoursome wines of
the highest standard.Merv and Judy Lange
are pioneers of the wine industry in the
Frankland River district. They planted
their first vines in 1971 - Riesling,
Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Malbec -
and produced their first wines in 1976.
Today, Alkoomi is one of the largest
family-owned wine producers in Western
Australia. The Lange's son Wayne, daughter
Sandy, and extended family members are all
actively involved in the
business.
Arlewood
Estate
Arlewood Estate was established in
1988 in the Willyabrup Valley of the
Margaret River wine region in Western
Australia.The Gosatti family in
partnership planted a small vineyard near
Cowaramup in 1995, and acquired Arlewood
Estate in 1999. In October 2005, The
Gosatti Family completed an outright
purchase of Arlewood to pursue the vision
that is starting to crystalise with the
release of some wines worthy of their
situation.
Castle
Rock
Estate
Castle Rock Estate is nestled on the
eastern slopes of the Porongurup mountain
range and is named after a prominent
nearby landmark. The vineyard has a cool
and elevated northerly aspect, resulting
in intensely flavoured wines. Angelo and
Wendy Diletti first started plantings in
1983, releasing the first vintage Riesling
in 1986. This Riesling won an 18 point
silver award at the Mount Barker Wine Show
that year. Since then the Rieslings have
consistently won silver awards or better
in regional or capital city shows. Robin
Bradley in his "Little Gold Book",
Australian and New Zealand Vintages,
awards Castle Rock Rieslings five
stars.
Chatsfield
Wines
Chatsfield Wines is a family owned
vineyard in the cool climate of Mount
Barker, WA, part of the renowned Great
Southern Wine Region of Australia. The
quality is confirmed by James Halliday,
Australia's most senior wine judge and
wine writer, so grab a bottle, and some
friends and enjoy! To produce
environmentally friendly top quality wines
for the discerning buyer in the world
markets. All wines are chosen for their
recognised ability to compliment food, not
overpower it.
Chestnut
Grove
Down at the southern tip of Western
Australia, between Margaret River and Mt
Barker lies the little town of Manjimup
and a very large and beautiful Chestnut
Tree. The tree is at the highest and most
visible point of the Chestnut Grove
vineyards. It was always going to be the
focal point of the winery that today
produces one of the best Merlots in the
country and West Australia's finest
example of Verdelho.
Cullens
In the early 1960's detailed climatic
studies of various regions in Southwestern
Australia revealed that during the
winegrowing season, Margaret River's
climate was similar to that of Bordeaux,
particularly Pomerol. The conclusion that
Margaret River was ideal for viticulture
was first tested in Wilyabrup in 1966,
when Diana and Kevin Cullen planted a
trial acre of vines. The encouraging
results led to the couple planting 18
acres of vines on their sheep and cattle
farm in 1971.
Evans
&
Tate
Like many family tales, ours does not
begin in Australia. Lionel Teitelbaum was
born in 1899 in a village called Nicopol
in the Ukraine. Still a young boy when he
emigrated to Australia in 1909, Lionel was
bounding with confidence and enthusiasm.
Such energy translated into a successful
family and business life, creating a solid
foundation for the future Tate
generations.
Fermoy
Estate
Despite
a history of little more than two decades,
Fermoy Estate's wines have won acclaim
which belies the vineyard's relative
youth. Its Cabernet Sauvignon scooped a
Gold Sheraton wine award within its first
year of production and its Merlot,
Chardonnay and Semillon have also been
hailed at both wine shows and in the
marketplace. The vineyard was established
in 1985, and completed its first vintage
in 1988. A total of 14 hectares is now
planted which in full production should
yield around 160 tonnes of premium fruit.
Ferngrove
Ferngrove
is a remarkable success story built on the
vibrant dream of a prominent Western
Australian south coast pioneering family.
In 1996, with nearly 90 years of beef and
dairy farming history behind his family,
Ferngrove founder Murray Burton decided to
move into premium grape growing. He
mortgaged the family farm to purchase land
at Frankland River, 360 kilometres south
of Perth in Western Australia, where he
knew the productive soils, pristine
environment and temperate Mediterranean
climate were ideal for
viticulture.
Frankland
Estate
Frankland Estate was established by
Barrie Smith and Judi Cullam in 1988. The
Isolation Ridge vineyard was developed on
part of a 3000 acre property in the
Frankland River region on which the family
has run a wool growing enterprise since
1974. Today the family continue to have
significant wool-growing interests and
manages a flock of some 10, 000
merinos.
Hainault
Michael and Lyn Sykes purchased the
vineyard in March 2002. Both continue to
work in their usual employment while
working on the vineyard every spare moment
they have. They rely heavily on voluntary
labour - family members and friends
frequently come to the vineyard to work
for lunch or a cuppa
Happs
Happs
in Dunsborough has been a popular Western
Australian destination since 1978.
Visitors are drawn to our mud brick
buildings that surround the much
photographed garden courtyard, the
pottery, the rambling structures of our
cellar door and winery, the spreading
lawns and the occasional musical event.
Our photographic display and museum of
older wines is also of interest. However,
with all of this we maintain a range of
some twenty five to thirty wines freely
available for tasting on a daily basis.
Apart from that, we think ourselves
friendly and unpretentious.... a little
rustic, a little earthy perhaps, but
happily so.
Hay
Shed Hill
The
Hay Shed Hill Estate is a modern wine
making and cellar door facility located on
Harmans Mill Road, Wilyabrup in the heart
of the MargaretRiver "golden triangle".
Nearby wineries include Moss Wood, Evans
and Tate, Cullen and Howard Park. The
boutique winery is utilised to produce and
mature the established icon wines under
the flagship Hay Shed Hill label. It also
houses the cellar door sales outlet for
the Hay Shed Hill and Pitchfork labels.
Houghton
Houghton Winery is synonymous with
Western Australia. And Houghton wines,
long renowned for their high quality,
consistency and flavour, have been such
prolific trophy and medal winners that
they have earned Houghton the well
deserved title of Western Australia's most
awarded winery.
Howard
Park
Since inception in 1986, Howard Park's
reputation of crafting balanced and
elegant wines with uncompromising
commitment and much pride and passion, has
become internationally recognised.
Unveiling the secret to their success is a
simple philosophy. Commitment to Western
Australia's best grape growing regions of
Margaret River and the Great Southern,
hence winery locations in these two areas
and the introduction of regional wines.
Committment to sourcing the very best
fruit from specific vineyards and in many
cases specific blocks on these vineyards
in Western Australia's Margaret River and
cool climate Great Sourthern
regions.
Jane
Brook
Jane Brook wines have been available
in selected wine retailers, restaurants
and hotels in Western Australia for twenty
years and since March 1997 have been
distributed throughout Western Australia
by the professional team at West Coast
Wine Cellars. Distribution in the eastern
seaboard of Australia is handled by Peter
Tsoukalas of Australian Partners in Wine
in Sydney and the A.C.T.
