Howard Park
Wines
Since
inception in 1986, Howard Park's
reputation of crafting balanced and
elegant wines with uncompromising
commitment and much pride and passion, has
become internationally
recognised.
Unveiling
the secret to their success is a simple
philosophy. Commitment to Western
Australia's best grape growing regions of
Margaret River and the Great Southern,
hence winery locations in these two areas
and the introduction of regional wines.
Committment to sourcing the very best
fruit from specific vineyards and in many
cases specific blocks on these vineyards
in Western Australia's Margaret River and
cool climate Great Sourthern regions.
Commitment to traditional winemaking
skills, new French oak and careful
blending procedures to ensure perfect
harmony is achieved. Commitment to
fulfilling a passion of family wine.
Premium
wine can only come from excellent fruit
and it is this reason that Howard
Park's locations, in the heart of the
Great Southern and Margaret River, were
chosen.
The
sourcing of this fruit from specific
vineyards, and in many cases specific
blocks on the vineyard, is the single most
important factor in the production of the
Howard Park Wines.
During
vintage, Chief Winemaker Michael Kerrigan
drives over 26,000 kilometres testing,
selecting and carefully monitoring the
fruit planned for the Howard Park
range of wines. His trusty Holden
Commodore wagon is constantly covered in
dirt and mud from travelling the South
West's 'dirt track' roads.
Amongst
grape growers Michael has earn't a
reputation as "bloody tough", rejecting
more fruit than he accepts.
As a
result, the Howard Park Riesling,
Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot and
regional range or reds are only ever
produced in very small quantities, but are
noted for their rare balance of elegance
and power. They also have a proven history
of ageing with increased complexity and
interest ensuring these wines are always
in demand.
