Arlewood
Estate
Arlewood
Estate was established in 1988 in the
Willyabrup Valley of the Margaret River
wine region in Western
Australia.
The
Gosatti family in partnership planted a
small vineyard near Cowaramup in 1995, and
acquired Arlewood Estate in 1999. In
October 2005, The Gosatti Family completed
an outright purchase of Arlewood to pursue
the vision that is starting to crystalise
with the release of some wines worthy of
their situation.
The
plantings at Arlewood include 17 year old
Cabernet Sauvignon and Semillon vines; 11
year old Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Shiraz
and Cabernet Franc; 10 year old
Chardonnay, along with newer plantings of
Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Merlot. The
total area under vine is 15 hectares. Some
recent developments on the property
include expanded dam works and additional
Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc plantings.
Garry Gosatti has been extensively
involved in the niche brewing and
hospitality industries for many years.
Wine has always played an integral role in
his life and fluid levels (he is, after
all, Italian).
Arlewood
wines are made under contract utilising
the facilities of world-class wineries
such as Voyager Estate and Juniper Estate.
Ian Bell of Moss Wood directs the critical
vineyard practices. Terry Chellappah and
Garry Gosatti market and sell the wines
globally.
The
combination of an excellent vineyard site
coupled with some of the best people in
the business harness the drive and passion
the Arlewood partnership has. This formula
promises to deliver Arlewood into the top
echelon of Margaret River producers,
through releases of fine, elegant wines
that offer both power and finesse.
Arlewood wines are available at our actual
virtual cellar door (on the website), at
cellar door (at the end of a lengthy
driveway), at The Cowaramup Regional Wine
Centre in CowTown and fine restaurants and
at selected premium wine retailers
only.
The team
at Arlewood Estate is committed to the
production of limited quantities of high
quality wines made from ONLY estate grown
fruit. The emphasis has always been on
viticulture and the production of top
quality wine grapes as a primary method of
achieving this end. Particular attention
is paid to pruning (cane rather than
spur), vine nutrition, canopy management
(through vertical shoot positioning), vine
trimming and leaf plucking
(ouch).
The
vineyard employs minimal soil cultivation
and is protected from bird damage by
netting at harvest. Current production
levels at Arlewood are 7000+ cases per
annum, with plans to increase production
another thousand cases of premium wine
over the next few years.
The
vineyard plantings are in four blocks,
with rows planted at 3.3m widths and 1.5m
vine spacing.
